Get listed prominently on search engines
Top research firms estimate that 85% of Web surfers use search engines to find
web sites they are looking for. What does this mean to you and your business?
It means that listing your web site with key search engines should be the top
priority for maximizing your traffic. By
increasing your exposure on the most used search engines, you increase the
chances that people looking for you product or service will find your company.
While there are many changing and different methods to how search engines
display site listings, there is no end-all solution to prominent listings.
However, there are four things that can be done to maximize the results.
At
Oztera, we employ the following methods:
1.
Submit your web
site – To get listed on search engines, your site must be submitted to
all of the available search engines on the web. This
can be a time consuming process as there are literally hundreds of search tools
on the web. Using partners and our
own tools, we quickly submit your web site to over 400 search engines.
2.
Maximize your
Listings – There are many steps that need to be taken to insure your
site ranks toward the top of the listings:
a.
Keyword
Identification – Before developing the site, we work with our clients to
identify the most relevant words that users will be searching for.
These keywords will be the starting point for the development of search
engine listings. Throughout our
relationship with the client, these keywords will be fine tuned as we research
the results using state of the art tools.
As we receive these results, the key words will be integrated into the site.
b.
Page title
– Many search engines use the title of the page to list the web site.
During the development process, we insure that all of you page titles
have keywords that relate to the relevance of the site
c.
Placement and
frequency of keywords - Many search engines also assume that if a
specific word is mentioned in the top several lines of a site, then there is a
good chance the page is relevant to a searcher. In the development process, we
check to make sure that the content contains these keywords.
This doesn’t mean that the page will be inundated with useless material,
as we balance our approach with providing useful information to the users.
d.
Popularity
- Some search engines boost a page's position based on popularity by
considering the number of other pages online that link to it. The thought is
that a page with many links is regarded well online and is therefore more
relevant. We work with clients, and
encourage them to build relationships with other sites to increase their links
throughout the web.
e.
Meta tags - These are keywords and descriptions written in a page's
code, so they are not visible to the casual surfer. Some search engines use
them to help index and rank sites. We add tags throughout the web site during
site creation to enrich the pages with these identified keywords.
3.
Track and hone
your results - Once we’ve submitted your site to search engines, our job
is not over. To make the most of your search engine listing, we constantly
monitor your search-engine positioning. We check top search engines and
directories to see where your Web site is listed by page and position. With
this information in hand, we tweak your keywords, titles, and site design to
help you move up search-engine rankings.
While this sounds like a long tedious process that will end up costing your
company thousands of dollars, it isn’t.
We use our own tools to assist us in analyzing the listings, making research
simple and cost effective.
4.
Using
"pay-for-play" services - Some search sites allow you to buy a position
for specific keywords, ensuring that your site shows up at or near the top of
relevant searches. Since this type of listing can generate solid site traffic
at a reasonable cost, we encourage our clients in making it part of their
advertising budget where it makes sense.
